Treatment for PTSD varies from prescription medication to therapy. Therapy can vary depending on the type of symptoms the patient shows and the severity of those symptoms. Types of therapy include Pyschotherapy which focuses on the mind because PTSD is a mental health disorder. Therapy focuses on the more emotional side of PTSD. Medication helps the part of the brain that causes symptoms of PTSD like insomnia, flashbacks, and paranoia, to name a few. Medication, while it does help assist in preventing some of the symptoms of PTSD, it does not affect on the emotional side of it and is not a cure.
